Family Birthday Boards

My church asked me to make a birthday boards for our Super Saturday.  I loved how this turned out.  To be honest with you it was time consuming, but I think it was worth the end result.  If you do this for a Super Saturday I would have all the shapes predrilled. There are different ways to hang the circles, but I found the eye hooks are the best.

 Supplies:
-(1) 8x24x1 board
-Paint
-#216 screw eyes
-Wood Shapes 3/16 inch thick. I would say 1.5 inches x 3/16 work great.
-Something to pull the eye hooks apart.
-Drill and the smallest drill bit you can find.
-Picture frame hanger

How to make:

1. Have a board cut 8x24x1 inch.
2. Predrill all the holes in the wood circles on the top and the bottom.
3. Paint the Board and circles. (Let dry. Use a blow dryer to speed up the drying process.)
4. Put vinyl on from Vinylgiftsandmore.com The vinyl is made so you know exactly where to put the eye hooks.
5. Pull the eye hook apart so it is a hook not a circle.

6. Drill the board with the smallest drill bit under each month.
7. Screw in the pulled apart eye hook.
8. Put the eye hooks in the circles.  One side use the closed hook and on the other side use an open hook so you can put them together. ( I closed the hook after I put them together)
9. Put the hanger on the back of the board.
10. Hang the circles on your board and put your family names and dates on them.  Enjoy!

Father's Day

Father's Day is coming up and this would be a perfect gift for him if you have little ones at home.

Instructions:

1. Paint the bottom of a child's foot and press it to the tile. (I used a 6x6 tile)  Then paint the other foot and press it going the other way so it creates a heart.  Let it dry.  (To speed up the drying process use a blow dryer.)

2. Place vinyl (from vinylgiftsandmore.com) on the tile over the dry paint.

3. Spray the tile with a clear coat of spray paint and let dry.
Your done!

It is simple, easy, affordable and adorable!!!

Create a Block by Rayson

I have had a lot of questions on where I get my glass blocks, and how do I drill the hole in the back... I just got a shipment of  Create a Block by Rayson and I will never ever ever go back to glass blocks again. NEVER!!! Let me tell you why.

1. Glass blocks are heavy and bulky. Create a Block is plastic and lightweight.  When you put them next to each other, you really can't tell which one is the glass block.

2. No more messy glass drilling. The Create a Block has a hole in the bottom so you can add your lights.

3. The Create a Block can snap apart so you can add fun things in the middle.

4. The price is the same for both.  Actually the Create a Block is a better deal because you don't have to buy the glass drill bit and waste all your precious time drilling holes.

Have I convienced you yet not to buy glass blocks?  I hope so because Create a Blocks are awesome!  I don't get any money from this review, but I do know a good product when I see one.

Where do I begin...

Where do I begin... I think I will start with Valentines day.  I hope everyone felt loved yesterday! My husband gets me flowers every month except February. It's something to do with he doesn't like being told to get candy or flowers, and the prices are crazy high.  So he normally waits a week or two after to get me something.  What ever floats his boat. I know that he loves me! Well, I put together a gift for him this year.  It is so cheesy that I LOVE IT! My husband and I are very silly people so this quote fits us well.  It will be going in my new master bathroom when it is done.  (So maybe in 10 years.) If you like it too, we will have the vinyl for you to buy on our website soon.  (The vinyl was placed on card stock and then placed in a frame.)

This doesn't have to be just for V-day.  I love this quote so I am excited to display this plate in my home. Again, the vinyl will be on our website soon.

This years theme in Primary is "I am a Child of God".    We are coming out with a bunch of graphics for this theme.  I am the primary president in my ward, and we made cute little blocks that have the theme on them for birthdays.  The kids love them, and they are adorable.  I will post a picture of them soon.  This vinyl we put on a block (plastic block that snaps together) and put lights in it.   What a fun night light for a child.  I will post more about these amazing blocks next week and how to make this really cute bow.

I am so excited for this. My father is retired and he has joined the team at Vinylgiftsandmore.  He was a builder for over 25 years and he is going to be are wood craft kit maker.  First thing we are coming out with is Say it on a Block.  We will have 3 different sizes of  wood blocks and you get to pick size and the letter in vinyl that you want to go on it.  We are in the process of getting it ready to go on our website.

Hope you have a fabulous weekend! Come check us out at Vinylgiftsandmore.com

Valentines Wreath

I like to decorate my front door for holidays and I didn't have anything for Valentines.  I went to pinterest and searched for valentines ides.  I came across an adorable heart wreath from The Idea Room.  I love it, but I don't have a craft store in my town to get the heart.  I have Walmart and The Home Depot.  I am VERY limited.  I saw somewhere on the net where you can take an insulator foam thingy (have no idea what it is called) to make a wreath.  I picked it up at Home Depot for a little over a dollar.  I ducted tapped it together. When they say you can use duct tape for everything... you can! Then I drove to Walmart and got 1 yard of red felt material and straight pins.  I think I spent more money on gas then on this project. My kids and I sat down one evening and put this together.  I would cut and they would fold and pin.  It was a fun family project that they are all proud of.  I caught my kids running out the door just to stare at their work, ok I have too a few times.

Missing pictures

I am sorry I have not posted my fireplace pictures.  The files have been misplaced on my computer (by my hubby) and he has been so busy with a bathroom remodel that he has not had time to find them for me.  When he finds them I will get them up.  I have been working on lots of fun crafts, so I can't wait to share them with you next week.

Fireplace Remodel

My husband and I bought our first home 2 years ago.   We bought a foreclosure because at the time that is all we could afford in a good neighborhood. If my husband really knew what visions and projects I had for our home, he would have never bought it and rented for the rest of our lives. :) I knew that most of the projects were my idea, so I needed step up and do most of them. I really had no idea how to remodel.  We had a lot of trial and error and youtube was my friend.  The first thing I did was scrap the popcorn ceilings.  We have a 1990's home. Who in the right mind sprayed popcorn on the ceilings in the 90's. Some crazy contractor that probably had left overs from the 70's. ;) I actually dry scraped the ceilings because it left a orange peel texture and it looks nice. The only downfall was I was blowing white stuff out of my nose for days, even with a mask on.  The next thing I did was paint.  I painted the whole house, top to bottom.  Paint makes a big difference in a house.  The other thing we found out that makes a huge difference is the lighting.  We replaced all of our gold fixtures to new dark bronze.  We are almost done with our home.  I wished I took more pictures along our journey of remodeling.  I do have pictures for a few projects and this mantel is one of them.  I will post step by step instructions on how we made this mantel soon . It really was easy and it looks so pretty. I even tiled it all by myself without my husband.  This was the first thing I have ever tiled.  I am telling you youtube has so many things to offer and teaching me how to tile was one of them.

Jar Lanterns

Attention: Jar Lantern Directions

We have discovered that some of you are having problems when making your jar lanterns. After much testing we have discovered the problem.

1. MUST start with clean jar.  DO NOT TOUCH THE JAR WITH YOUR HANDS! We have discovered the oils from your hands can prevent the etching spray paint to not stick correctly.  If it is not on there correctly the vinyl will peal the etching off.  If you have to touch the jar, just touch the rim of the jar.  It sounds crazy but I tested lots of jars, and this was the cause of the problem.

2. Please follow the directions on the etching bottle.

3. Let the paint dry before you apply the vinyl.  (When I was testing the jars I used a blow dryer and it seemed to make the process go quicker.)

I hope this helps anyone who is having troubles.

SPOOKY

I am not really into Halloween, but I wanted something fun for my shelf, so I made a banner out of scrap booking paper, ribbon and vinyl.  I am so excited about it, that I want to make one for all the holidays.  I think this would be a fun super Saturday project.

We Wish You a Merry Christmas Tree

I was invited to a fun super Saturday a few months ago.  This was one of the crafts that we did.  I thought they turned out adorable!

The trees are cut out of 2x10, 2x8 and 2x6's. Then the wood was spray painted on the edges green, red and white.  We added scrapbooking paper with spray adhesive. Then we decorated them with buttons and twine and vinyl.  So simple, but adorable. Just remember if you use music paper to put the notes going the right way and not upside down like me. :)

Come check out our website vinylgiftsandmore.com for all the your vinyl needs.

Christmas Countdown Chalkboard

I went to visit my grandma a few weeks ago, and in her town is a Hobby Lobby.  This is the first time I have been in their store and I fell in LOVE!!!  In my town the only craft store we have is Walmart and we all know their craft selection is not the greatest.  I felt like a kid in a candy store at Hobby Lobby.  I knew I wanted to find a chalkboard because I had this idea in my mind.  When I was young I made something similar to it and I wanted to recreate it. It was fun, easy and it is adorable and something you can make in under 30 minutes.  The vinyl can be found at vinylgiftsandmore.com
Did you know that we have 150 days until Christmas.  I found this website that tracks how many days we have left.

Directions:
1. Put painters tape on around the borders on the chalkboard.
2. Paint the trim of the chalkboard. Let dry. (I did 3 coats. Just depends on how you like it)
3. Take the tape off.
4. Apply Vinyl to the chalkboard.
5. Decorate your chalkboard.  I used thin twine, scrap booking paper and buttons.
5. Drill holes on top to put your twin or ribbons in to hang.
6. Enjoy!!!

Mason Jar Craft

I love Mason jars!  I am a canner so I have tons of them around my house.  I wanted to do a craft with them.  My friend had me make vinyl for girls camp with the YW torch on it and she put it on a Mason jar.  My mind then went crazy with different ideas.  Here are the ideas I came up with.  This craft can be made under $5.00.  The vinyl will be available at vinylgiftsandmore.com

Items you need:
- Pint size Mason jar
- Wire  2 1/2 feet (heavy duty wire I got at a hardware store)
-Wire Cutters
- Frosted glass spray paint
-VINYL
-Tea light candle
-Ribbon, jingle bells... anything to dress up the glass

1.
- Place the wire around the top of the jar. One side should be longer than the other.
- Cross the wire and twist it so it will stay.
- Take the long side and loop the top to make a handle.
- Take the wire that just went over the top for the handle and thread it under the wire that went around the jar in the beginning.
- Now take the wire and bring it over to meet the other wire that you didn't touch.
-Now twist the wire together to make it stay

2. Spray your jar by holding your handle. I followed the directions on the the can. I sprayed my jar 3 times.  It took less than 5 minutes to do.

3. Add fun decorations and twist the wire to make cute curls with a pen.

4. Add the vinyl Vinylgiftsandmore.com

5. Add a tea light and enjoy.

I Love Tatties

When I find awesome things, like Tatties, I decided I should share my finds with others,  When my baby was born I was sent a tattie from a friend.  I love it! I just stick it on her head with some elmers glue and it stays there until I take it off with water.  My kids were worried that it would stay there forever because I glued it on. :) I love it because it is cute, people don't have to guess if she is a boy or girl, and it can stay on there for days if I want it to.  Here is the link to it http://www.etsy.com/shop/corettadeesign?ref=seller_info
